Jika Adolescent Hub’s Programme receives a nod from UN Women Nigeria as Technology promoting Gender Equality

The SHE programme was selected by UN Women Nigeria as Technology promoting Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. On the 23rd of March 2023, the founder and Executive Director of Jika Adolescent Hub, Dr MaryJane Nweje, was recognised by UN Women Nigeria Youth Showcase as a Leading Youth Advancing Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) through Technology and Innovation in Nigeria.

The 2022 International Women’s day Workshop convened 300 young girls and women from local communities, internally displaced person camps, women-led CSOs, religious organisations, and schools. These participants were empowered and educated with skills in personal development, leadership, ICT, and making reusable pads.

My Body, My Future Army Day Secondary School project empowered 115 young girls of the school with in-depth, comprehensive sexuality education, which is vital for young people to reach their full potential. The participants also received 1-1 counseling sessions and free menstrual hygiene products.

My Body, My Future Mpape project delivered comprehensive sexuality education, 1-1 counselling and distribution of free menstrual hygiene products to 100 young girls in the community.
